About Us
The mission of the Gallatin Historical Society and Gallatin History Museum is to preserve, promote and foster the history of Gallatin County and southwest Montana. The Gallatin History Museum is located in the former county jail building, used from 1911 to 1982 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Permanent and changing exhibits feature early area history and artifacts, unique local stories, photography, and jail and law enforcement displays. Visit the museum's Montana and local history bookstore and active research library. Staff are available to assist with research projects, genealogy, and photograph archive questions. Admission is $10.00 (General), $9.00 (Seniors, Military, Veterans), $5.00 (Ages 6-17), FREE (Ages 5 and Under, Museum Members).
